Introducing Learning Mode: Master Your Flashcards Across All Decks

We're excited to announce a powerful new feature that transforms how you study with MemoForge: Learning Mode. This feature lets you practice flashcards from all your decks in a single, focused session — perfect for comprehensive review or mixed-topic studying.

Why Learning Mode?

Traditional flashcard apps force you to study one deck at a time. But real learning often involves connecting concepts across different subjects and materials. Our new Learning Mode breaks down these barriers by letting you:

  • Learn from multiple decks at once — Mix cards from different subjects for better retention
  • Set your session size — Choose exactly how many cards you want to study
  • Review cards you struggle with — Mark any card for another review within the same session
  • Prioritize older content — Optionally focus on cards you haven't seen in a while

How to Use Learning Mode

Getting started is simple:

1. Open the Learning Modal

Look for the green "Start Learning" button in your dashboard sidebar. Click it to open the Learning Mode configuration modal.

2. Select Your Decks

By default, all your completed decks are selected. You can:

  • Click individual decks to toggle them on/off
  • Use the "All" and "None" buttons for quick selection
  • See how many cards are available in each deck

3. Configure Your Session

Customize your learning experience:

  • Cards per session: Slide to choose between 5 and 100 cards
  • Review oldest first: Enable this to prioritize cards you haven't studied recently

4. Start Learning

Hit the "Start Learning" button to begin your session. You'll see cards from your selected decks in either random order or oldest-first, depending on your settings.

The "Review Again" Feature

One of the most powerful aspects of Learning Mode is the Review button. When you reveal a card and realize you need more practice:

  1. Click the amber "Review" button instead of "Correct" or "Incorrect"
  2. The card gets added back to your current session
  3. You'll see it again before the session ends

This simple feature ensures you don't finish a study session until you've truly mastered every card. It's like having a built-in spaced repetition system within each session!

Tips for Effective Learning Sessions

Combine decks that cover related subjects. Studying Spanish vocabulary alongside grammar rules helps reinforce both simultaneously.

Start Small

If you're new to Learning Mode, start with 15-20 cards. You can always increase as you build stamina.

Use Review Generously

Don't be shy about marking cards for review. It's better to see a card three times and truly learn it than to rush through once and forget.

Enable "Oldest First" for Review Sessions

When doing periodic review (weekly or monthly), enable "oldest first" to ensure you're not neglecting older material.

What's Next?

Learning Mode is just the beginning. We're working on:

  • Smart card scheduling based on your performance history
  • Full spaced repetition with automatic review reminders
  • Performance analytics across multiple sessions
  • Study streaks and goals to keep you motivated

Try It Today

Learning Mode is available now for all MemoForge users. Simply head to your dashboard, click "Start Learning" in the sidebar, and experience a better way to study.
